What is semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a prescription medication that belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists. It works by mimicking a natural hormone that helps regulate blood sugar, appetite, and digestion. The Food and Drug Administration has approved it for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related conditions.
Semaglutide uses
Semaglutide is FDA approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) or overweight (BMI ≥27) with at least one weight-related condition.
How semaglutide works
Semaglutide works by mimicking a hormone called GLP-1 that targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. This helps you feel fuller longer, reduces hunger, and helps control cravings, leading to reduced caloric intake and weight loss.
Semaglutide drug interactions
Certain medications may interact with semaglutide, including insulin and other diabetes medications. It's important to inform your provider about all medications, supplements, and medical conditions, particularly any history of diabetes, pancreatic issues, or kidney problems. Your provider will review your complete medical history to ensure safe and effective treatment.
* Only available if prescribed after an online consultation with a healthcare provider.
* Controlled substances such as Xanax and Adderall are not available through our platform.

The medication is typically administered once weekly via subcutaneous injection. Your healthcare provider will provide detailed instructions on proper administration and storage.

What are the side effects of escitalopram?

What are potential drug interactions with escitalopram?
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs, such as linezolid, phenelzine, etc), increase the risk of serotonin syndrome, a mild to a life-threatening build-up of serotonin in the system. A combination of MAOIs with escitalopram could lead to a spike in blood pressure, sudden rise in body temperature or severe seizures. Similarly, escitalopram can interact with other agents that affect serotonin in the brain, such as tricyclic antidepressants, certain pain medications, supplements that contain St. John's Wort or tryptophan. Be prepared to share all prescription and over-the-counter medications, as well as any other products you take, with your provider. Seek medical advice before combining any drugs with escitalopram treatment.
Prescription products require an online consultation with a healthcare provider who will determine if a prescription is appropriate.
Can you take escitalopram (generic for Lexapro) for bipolar disorder?
Under close advisory, some healthcare professionals will prescribe low doses of escitalopram for mood stabilizing, such as in the treatment of bipolar disorder. However, the hims platform does not treat bipolar disorder and will only prescribe escitalopram to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder.
